3rd Lead Author Meeting for the Special Report Renewable Energy Sources
On March 2-5th, 2010 the IPCC Working Group III held the Third Lead Author Meeting (LA3) of its Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation (SRREN) hosted by the University of Oxford, in Oxford, United Kingdom. This meeting followed the compilation of the First Order Draft (FOD) of the SRREN and subsequent expert review.
During the LA3, more than one hundred coordinating lead authors and lead authors from around the world as well as over twenty selected review editors, congregated to discuss the further progress of the SRREN and how external expert review comments would be taken into account by each chapter to produce the Second Order Draft (SOD).
The SOD will be finalized by the end of May, 2010 and sent out for an eight week period of expert and government review. The fourth and final Lead Author Meeting will take place in Mexico in late September, 2010 after which the final draft of the SRREN will be produced. Final approval of the SRREN and the accompanying Summary for Policy Makers (SPM) by the IPCC plenary is expected in February, 2011.
